Hi, I am Dr. Dean Payne. Since the 1970's, I have been practicing within numerous healing modalities, including psychoanalysis, art therapy, pet therapy, hug/smother therapy (teens), sneak therapy, group counseling, hypnosis, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), psychic driving, and play/improv/mask therapy. I offer a safe, secure, healing environment for short or long-term therapy and a state-of-the-art multimedia room for over-exposure-based phobia treatment.
I received my Bachelor's of Arts degree in Psychology from Wolser College in 1964. In 1970, I was awarded a doctorate in clinical psychology from The Heliopa Institute in Vail and published my thesis, "Let The Kids Rock, Roll, AND Learn: Towards a Communal Freedom-based Approach to Social Adjustment."
After obtaining my doctorate, I was apprenticed to Dr. Sigrid Silva, the world-renowned Swiss psychotherapist and author of Loving Into You, and Sneaking Up on Loving Into You. Dr. Silva was a developer and practitioner of the Clandestine or Sneak model of therapy, in which the therapist may be disguised as another patient in the waiting room, a receptionist, janitor, romantic partner, or homeless man.
The Payne Method, as I call my own practice, draws on numerous therapeutic modalities to provide each individual patient with a personalized course of treatment.
